UK Motorhome Itineraries
Bargoed Farm, Ceredigion – Best for Hot Tubs
Tucked away between the pretty Welsh seaside towns of Aberaeron and New Quay and in the heart of the stunning Cardigan Bay, Bargoed Farm is a newish, family run site that gets rave reviews from our motorhoming friends, who consider it to be one of the best motorhome campsites in Wales.
The site focusses on everything Wales, including a farm shop and bistro that showcase local and seasonal Welsh food, drink and local products.
Add to that 50 generous, level hardstanding pitches, grey waste facilities and fresh water tap, some with the all important private hot tub, and this makes one fantastic motorhome camping site. As if that’s wan’t enough, there are also award winning facilities!
The word is out about Bargoed Farm though, if you want a hot tub pitch you’ll need to book well in advance and the per night cost will be much higher than a regular pitch.
Lady’s Mile Holiday Park, Devon – Best for Families
The award-winning south west caravan park and motorhome campsite in Devon, Lady’s Mile Holiday Park, is less than a mile to the Blue Flag beaches of Dawlish Warren and makes a great spot for exploring the area.
With award winning super-heated swimming pools with flumes (and an indoor swimming pool for cooler days) their ‘Discover Active’ club programme for kids plus adventure playground and soft play area, this is the ideal motorhome spot for families in south west England.
The grown-up’s are also catered for with a lively evening entertainment programme, an onsite restaurant and busy bar, plus a gym and spa to help you relax.
Renowned for great their customer service and dog friendly approach, there are both standard and full serviced super-pitches to choose from, and some have really stunning views.
If you’re planning a motorhome staycation, this is a site where you could happily spend a few weeks.
Longnor Wood Holiday Park, Derbyshire – Best for Adults Only
Surrounded by tranquil woodland and farmland in the Peak District, Longnor Wood is an award winning motorhome and caravan park for adults only.
The ideal place for a peaceful escape, the site is ideally located for walking, cycling and enjoying the gorgeous landscapes of the Peak District National Park.
The site offers fully serviced hardstanding motorhome pitches including 10a electric hook up, fresh water and grey waste drain, and many have tv booster points.
The facilities are excellent, with a heated amenities block, covered washing up area with a microwave, freezer, washing machine and dryer, plus a small convenience shop on site.
This is a dog friendly site too, with a dog wash area and large meadow where dogs are free to roam.
Whitlingham Broad Campsite, Norfolk – Best for Getting Back to Basics
If you’re craving the simple way of life, with minimal fuss and facilities, then Whitlingham Broad Campsite near Norwich in East Anglia will deliver.
Set in a country park just a few miles from Norwich, the Norfolk Boards and the North Norfolk Coast, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, this the perfect place to get back to nature.
You won’t find hardstanding serviced pithes here, so you need to be happy on a grass pitch. In fact, there’s no grey waste or chemical toilet disposal points, so the excellent site facilities will have to suffice. There’s no EHU available either, so you’ll need solar, or, get back to basics and chill for a bit with traditional camping lights.
But, what you will get is the Broad, for kayaking and SUP, the ability to enjoy a fire pit at night, awesome pop-up food trucks in summer and the sound of owls as you nod off to sleep.
Their website says that they “prefer” smaller motorhomes given the grassy camping fields, but we have stayed here in our 9m tag-axle without a problem, so it’s always worth the ask.

Ardnamurchan Campsite, Argyll – Best for Views
Close to Kilchoan on the west coast of Scotland, Ardnamurchan Campsite is surrounded by fascinating landscapes and some of the best views in the UK. With pitches that look across the sea loch to the Isle of Mull, you’ll want to spend hours drinking in the remarkable colours and huge skies.
But it’s not just about the views, some of the most gorgeous beaches in Europe are within striking distance – the clean white sands and piercing turquoise blue waters of Sanna Bay are just six miles away.
And inland, there’s a unique remnant of a volcanic caldera waiting to be explored.
This motorhome site in Scotland is small, with just 25 terraced pitches, ensuring everyone gets their fair share of the magnificent views.
With great facilities, direct shoreline access and the local village just over half a mile away, this place is a destination rather than a motorhome stopover (but only if your motorhome is less than 7.5m due to access limitations).

Llyn Gwynant Campsite, Caernarfon – Best for Hikers
Nestled in Nant Gwynant valley, in the heart of the Snowdonia National Park, Llyn Gwynant Campsite is perfect for mountain and outdoor activity lovers, and you can actually hike Snowdon directly from the site!
Beside mountain, river and lake and close to swimming, walking trails and adventure activities, this is not a site for lounging around, but one to facilitate your need for adventure!
Whether you’re into hard-core climbing, or practicing your SUP yoga on the lake, you’ll find it here.
With simple but good facilities, hard-standing pitches with EHU, the attraction here is not the site itself but it’s location and what the surroundings have to offer.
The site is open year-round and booking is advisable. The maximum length for a motorhome is 8m with single axle only.
Gill Head Farm, Cumbria – Best for Scenery
In a beautiful rural setting in north west England between Penrith and Keswick is Gill Head Farm, a family run working hill farm with a camp site, set against the breathtaking backdrop of Blencathra and the northern fells of the Lake District National Park.
Whatever you are looking for from your motorhome holiday, be it adventure and excitement on the lakes and fells, peace and tranquillity whilst sightseeing or visiting stately homes and gardens, you’ll find it in the Lake District.
One of the best motorhome campsites in the Lake District, there are just ten hardstanding pitches with EHU here, meaning you should definitely book in advance.
Facilities are modern and generous in size, dogs are welcomed and there is a farm shop selling basics, including the most delicious farm-fresh eggs.
Hurley Riverside Park, Oxfordshire – Best for Messing About on the Water
Close to the capital in south east England and on the banks of the Thames in the south east, Hurley Riverside Park is a large family run motorhome and caravan site which feels like a commercial camping park, with hedged pitches and electronic entry barriers.
But, and this is the attraction, this touring park is right on the river (the lovely bubbling clean bit before it gets to London), with direct Thames access making it one of the best motorhome parks in the south.
You could either arrive by kayak or canoe and camp, or you could bring a boat along if arriving by motorhome, and use the campsite’s own slipway to launch.
Surrounded by lush meadows, walking trails and central England attractions such as Legoland and Windsor Castle, this campsite has a lot to offer and is one of the best holiday parks in the area.
With a variety of touring pitches to suit every need and budget and really good facilities, this could be a perfect place to base yourself for a superb motorhome holiday, or even a trip to London.

Celtic Camping, Pembrokeshire – Best for Teenagers
About as close to the beach as you can get (well, a ten minute walk), Celtic Camping, near the charming Welsh city of St Davids and the stunning Aberreiddi Bay, is a joy and very possibly one of the best motorhome holidays in the UK for families with teens.
With far reaching sea views across grassy meadows and direct access to the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, this is a place to relax, try new things and revel in the great outdoors.
With coasteering, surfing, kayaking, climbing, coastal hiking, mud running, bushcraft and clay pigeon shooting on the doorstep, your teens will have so much to do they’ll forget they don’t have a phone signal (although there is wifi for a small charge, to tide them over).
With a choice of motorhome and tent pitches (for the kids to have some space), EHU and excellent facilities, plus evening camp fires for toasting marshmallows and re-connecting after a busy day, this is a top choice for a fabulous family motorhome holiday or stop-over on your Welsh road trip.
Clachtoll Beach Campsite, Sutherland – Best for Wilderness
On Clachtoll Beach, in the raw wilderness of Scotland’s North West Highlands is Clachtoll Beach Campsite. It’s a long way to go for a bit of wilderness, but this site is also on Scotlands infamous North Coast 500, beloved of motorhomers.
This peaceful family run, award winning site is surrounded by rugged nature and the whole area is renowned for its outstanding natural beauty, with spectacular land and seascapes.
The beach boasts crystal clear water for amazing snorkelling, and there is plenty of walking nearby.
With a choice of serviced and non-serviced pitches and great facilities, we think it’s one of the best motorhome campsites in Scotland.
Do check the roads and size of your vehicle before making your way there – coming the long way on the coastal B869 won’t work if you’re in a very large motorhome.
